| ROCHESTER,
NEW YORK—October 24, 2006 – Navitar offers the industry’s
only Differential Interference Contrast (DIC) Module designed specifically
for video imaging. When used with one of Navitar’s high magnification
lenses (zoom or non-zoom), the DIC allows users to image a microscopy
sample to a video monitor as opposed to using a standard microscope
to see the same features.
The DIC system enables a user to view a true three-dimensional
representation of the surface geometry of a sample, provided a distinction
can be realized between raised and lowered regions. This imaging
technique is particularly effective when using transmitted light
on reflective surfaces. Inspecting semiconductor wafers, flat panel
displays, diamonds, translucent biological samples, and optical
media (hard drives) are all made easier when applying the DIC imaging
technique.
Craig Fitzgerald, Vice President of Domestic Sales for Navitar
comments, “A system comprised of the DIC module and one of
Navitar’s high magnification lenses costs 20% less than a
compound microscope capable of DIC imaging and provides the same
magnification capability. And with ergonomic concerns heightening
due to hours spent viewing samples through microscopes, technicians
can now view and inspect samples on a video monitor, more comfortably.”
