With a diverse selection of body tubes, accessory optics, motorized configurations, and lighting techniques, the Zoom 6000 is Navitar's workhorse with unbeatable versatility.

The parfocal optical system of the Zoom 6000 has a 6.5:1 zoom ratio, a 0.7X to 4.5X zoom range, and total magnification (depending on lens adapters and attachments used) of 0X to 228X. The working distance can be varied from 34 mm (1.3") to 390 mm (15.4"), or out to infinity with the use of the new ZoomXtender. The achievable field of view can vary from 0.02 mm to meters.

Image formats up to 30mm are possible. Resolve limits of 1.2 microns (macro) and 0.4 microns (micro) are possible.

Select models are also available in an NIR format to maximize transmission in the longer wavelengths.

The wizard looks at your type of camera mounting, then at the sensor size (based on line scan length or area sensor diagonal).

Next the wizard will look for a potential solution to satisfy your mag requirements, as defined by image length (area sensor vertical dimension or line scan length) divided by the pertinent object dimension.

There are three configurations of the 6000.

  • Standard – 70-450mm focal length zoom system
  • Coax – utilizes a fiber optic or LED coaxial illuminator
  • Ultra – utilizes microscope objective taking lenses

With the coax version, the spot it can evenly illuminate is more or less a constant. As the sensor get larger, the magnification must get larger to spread this same size spot over the larger sensor. This limits the useable portion of the zoom range. See the Coaxial Operating Restrictions for additional help.

Likewise, with the ultra versions, the objective / zoom pupil matching also limits the zoom range.

* Maximum sensor length (area diagonal or line scan) depends on the equipment employed.

A C-mount is limited to a 20mm sensor as that is the maximum that reasonably can get thru the mount. An F-mount is limited to a 30mm sensor because of optical constraints, and requires that a 2X, F-mount adapter be used. This 2X magnification factor further limits the size of the object viewed.
