Image: ZFL Focusing The ZFL is available with built-in focusing which reduces the requirements for fine focus capabilities on the exterior mounting structure.

Because of the higher NA's involved in the Micro mode, achieving critical focus is more complex. One can focus the object or the objective. The add-on focus accessory can be used to move the objective, but the higher NA objectives require a significant degree of manual dexterity. Hanging the unit on one of the off-the-shelf microscope type stands is a possibility. For the ultimate in control, particularly in computer controlled systems, one of the piezo microscope objective positioners (Pifoc or equivalent) permits nano movements while still maintaining a simple mounting arrangement.
