Image: Adapter Modifiers (Zoom) The RA Attachment introduces a 90° bend in the optical axis, shortening the overall length of the system. The resulting image will be mirrored, thus erect and read backwards from right to left when viewed with a camera. Because the bending uses part of the original "straight" optical path, shorter Adapters (RA) must be used to maintain the designed path length.

The Non-Inverting RA (NIRA) Attachment also introduces a 90° bend in the optical axis, but the use of a penta prism results in an image that is erect and reads left to right. As in the above, shorter Adapters (NIRA) must be used to maintain path length.

The Auxiliary Viewing Port, placed above the zoom system, similar to the right angle benders, splits the beam into one that goes off to the side and one that continues upward. This provides a second output port for an additional camera or for direct vision using an eyepiece. A 50/50 beam splitter cube is used for minimal image degradation. This assembly has an optical path length similar to the right angle bender, so only the RA Adapters will maintain the path length. Adapters are required in both vertical and horizontal viewing arms.

The analyzer is required when the system is in the polarization mode. It too sits above the zoom system and uses up the same amount of path length as the RA bender, therefore only the RA Adapters are suitable to maintain path length.
