Pixel Size For applications where the ability to resolve fine detail is critical, the size of your camera pixel is significant. If you tell the wizard your pixel size, it will tell you exactly how fine a detail the selected Navitar product will let you resolve.
When specified, it is usually in microns (one thousandth of a mm). For calculations, we require mm. ie: 10microns = .010mm. Nominally, pixel sizes vary from 3.5 to 15 microns. Some times, only the sensor dimension and number of pixels is given. Refer to any documentation with your camera. You will see things like:
If your application is not "pushing the limit", or you would rather not "bother" with pixel size, the wizard uses a default value of 0.010mm (or 10 microns) . |
